Siemens 3964R/RK512 (SICOS protocol) ID:3

Interface Description

The IGSS32 Siemens 3964R/RK512 communication interface offers connection to Simatic S5 Series of PLCs equipped with 3964R/RK512 interfaces and SICOS PLC operating system.

3964R/RK512 is an asyncronous serial point-to-point protocol which can be connected directly to the serial RS232 port on the PC. The PLC must be equipped with a communication processor which support 3964R/RK512 e.g. CP524, CP525 or CP544.

SICOS is a state-of-the-art object oriented library of function blocks designed for use with Simatic S5 and Simatic S7 PLC series. The object oriented features of SICOS is extended to incorporate data exchange between PLCs and HMI systems such as IGSS32. This is implemented by using an application layer communication protocol specially designed for fast event-oriented data exhange. The SICOS system gives the programmer full control of then and why data are to be send to the supervision system - thus fully exploiting the bandwidth of the communication link. The SICOS communication protocol and the object oriented features of SICOS is fully integrated into IGSS32.

SICOS systems are used in a large number of industrial applications including oil and gas production, ship automation and other applications which requires minimal response times combined with large amounts of I/O points.
